Angels are spiritual beings who hail from Heaven that serve and take orders from their king, and are the "good" counterpart to demons.

Angels are supposed to be the protectors of innocents from demons and ghosts. Each angel owns a license which permits operations on Earth and must uphold their freedom by doing good; otherwise, they may be revoked. As per Heavenly Law, angels are not allowed to work with demons.

The angel brothers, Polyester and Polyurethane, are seemingly shining examples of what angels should act like. They protect the citizens from ghosts and maintain angel traditions such as guiding newly deceased souls to Heaven while wearing tunics and playing trumpets. Panty and Stocking, on the other hand, are lewd and vulgar angels who promote chaos and freedom.

They can also be kicked out of Heaven due to misbehavior and be punished by having their weapons locked, rendering them unusable.

In the case of Panty and Stocking, they must complete a trial by collecting a certain amount of Heaven Coins. They have been sent down to Daten City on Earth to save the world from ghosts; they receive orders from Garterbelt, a priest and their honorary caretaker.

The concept of "fallen angels" in the PaSwG universe is not like the typical depiction in other media, as being a fallen angel in Panty and Stocking's case is simply just them being evicted from Heaven while retaining their original angelic powers.

Culture

Angels are to serve and answer to Heaven's royal family, but primarily to the king and queen - King Linière and Queen Silk, who are Panty and Stocking's parents.

Unlike Earth, Heaven seems to be far more technologically advanced - with their gadgets and weapons sharing the same color of white and light blue. Heaven also uses Heaven Coins as their currency.

Heaven's hierarchy simply comprises of the first in line, King Linière himself, followed by Queen Silk, and lastly, his younger brother, Ramie. However, due to the king and queen's somewhat lax response on whether or not to take their roles or reputations seriously, they have been caught openly having casual affairs, leading to most of Heaven to not take them seriously.

This prompts Ramie to insist on taking matters into his own hands, and tricks the two into getting usurped, temporarily granting him the rights to the throne - making him the first in line, followed by his twin sons, Polyester and Polyurethane.

The Poly Family's vision of an ideal Heaven was to turn every other god into stone and use their powdered remains to build the ultimate statue of Ramie, to be sent sliding down towards Earth and Hell, capable of destroying both worlds.

As revealed in the Neverending Streaming covering "Independence Dick", after giving birth to them, angel babies also age similarly to humans whilst also attending a similar school setting as they grow into adults.

Biology

Angels, when not showing their halos or wings, look identical to humans, coming in a variety of skin tones, heights, weights, and the like. While the other gods seem to all wear toga and always have their halo and wings out, both royal families seem to rarely show their wings/halo - with the three main gods, Linière, Silk, and Ramie, having parts of their bodies being live action green-screens of human body parts/sculptures.

Angels appear to be divided into three general sub-types - the Gods (the king and queen, as well as Ramie), the Heavenborn angels (Panty, Stocking, and the Poly Brothers), and lastly, ascended souls of deceased humans/purified ghosts.

As revealed in the Neverending Streaming covering "Independence Dick", angels are born angels in the sense that neither humans nor their souls become angels.

Panty hints in "Catfight Club", that, similar to human women, angel women also get their monthly periods; which is also mentioned in the 2010 manga by TAGRO^[1], though the latter is not canon to the anime.

It is also shown in "Bitch Girls: 2 Bitch" and "Rolling Sisters" that both angels and demons have green intestines, though Panty's body was highly transformed at the time.

In the canon of Tagro's series, angels are also capable becoming sick, as seen in The An♪r♥meda Strain chapter.

Mortality

In the Poly Brothers' debut episode, "The Brothers from Heaven", Stocking indirectly reveals that angels can age. As she comments how the last time she and Panty saw their cousins, it was when they were all much younger. This could imply that, while angels do age, they seem to do so at a gradual rate, and that they seemingly stop doing so, at least, physically, at a certain point.

It is also implied that angels may be immortal, as Stocking stated a certain dessert "is said to have" a 500 year waiting list. She and her sister also have been seen not to physically age throughout the whole series. This is further supported in the angel brothers' theme, there is a line that seemingly confirms this, specifically "never grow old".

However, this does not make them exempt from acquiring injuries from their own weapons or technology; they are also susceptible to that of the technology and weaponry of demons from Hell.

It can be observed that angels seem to have an enhanced durability for the most part, since they can seemingly endure a good handful of hits from both angelic and demonic technology before succumbing to their injuries, with a notable example being the Poly Family, when they were able to withstand the blast from the Fuck You Gun in the season two finale, with Ramie sustaining the least injuries, simply having his outfit slightly damaged.

Much like humans, angels also bleed the same red as they do. As shown when Stocking ends up physically assaulting Panty with scissors over her haircut in "The Bad Hairdresser's Wife", and when Panty repeatedly gets her tongue sliced off by the chastity ring every time she swears for swearing too much in "Fa Fa F*ck" but her tongue grows back every time it activates.

In the case of Junior, it is unknown to what extent his aging, vulnerability to angelic and demonic weapons, or powers go, as he is the first hybrid to be introduced. Though, it is implied his regeneration powers are much slower than that of the average angel since he still needed a bandage over a scrape on his knee.

Reproduction

While the Gods have been proven to be able to reproduce with one another (thus, the birth of Panty, Stocking, and the Poly Brothers), it is unknown if ascended human souls or ascended ghosts are able to do the same.

Gods are known to give birth to angels, though it is never stated how gods themselves came to be.

It is revealed in the season two finale that angels are able to partake in cross-species reproduction, as Junior is the human/angel hybrid son of Panty and Brief.

It is also revealed in the The An♪r♥meda Strain chapter, that the dildo thermometer Panty uses is "also designed to help women check if they're ovulating"^[2]; and during the Cheese Horror Day chapter, Garter suspects that a ghost was messing with the menstrual periods of the women on Earth, though neither of these are canon to the anime.

Abilities

Angels are able to transform themselves using their halos, and turn their undergarments into weapons, which can harm ghosts, demons, and other angels, but humans are highly resistant. However, it is unknown if only Heaven-born angels possess said ability or this also extends to ascended human souls and ghosts.

It is revealed in the Neverending Streaming featuring the three-part Heaven Wars arc that the reason Ramie's gun is capable of injuring a human like Brief is because gods' weapons are stronger than that of an angel's.

As shown in "Heaven Wars Episode Three - Revenge of the Bitch", the Poly Brothers' garments are interchangeable, meaning Polyester doesn't necessarily have to use Polyurethane's underwear as his weapon and vice versa, as Polyurethane was able to turn his own underwear into his bladed boot during the scene where he gets rid of the elevator sound alarm.

Interestingly enough, angelic weapon enhancements mass produced by Gunsmith Bitch in the Pants Dimension are also beneficial to demonic weapons as showcased in "The Brothers from Heaven".

Gods are shown to be capable of size shifting, as demonstrated by Silk at the end of "Bitch Girls: 2 Bitch" when her lower half descends from Heaven to help defeat Corset, as well as when Ramie lowers his arm onto Earth to fetch his sons in "The Brothers from Heaven".

As shown in "Fa Fa F*ck", angels can also use their halos to cleanse ghosts into human form, allowing them to fulfill their final wish before passing.

They also possess the capacity to regenerate from harm, this is shown when Panty got her tongue cut and it regenerated, and after a ghost ate Stocking and the angel brothers, the ghost gained their regeneration ability.

Angels posses a divine level of luck, seen with Panty and Stocking winning constantly in a casino in "The Stripping", as well as Polyester and Polyurethane in "Independence Dick", and Panty's dice roll in The Bodycard. However this doesn't extend to certain situations as Stocking kept losing in the Rock-Paper-Scissors Contest in "The Ohagi of Doom". Likely that luck only affects true random chance, as Panty and Stocking stopped winning at roulette when Kneesocks began cheating, but as soon as she got distracted they won yet again.

It is also hinted that each angel has a respective specific trait/characteristic depending on the individual that is heavily tied with how their powers work. The first example being Panty, who was punished with Revival Virgin Syndrome (after failing to past the trial of collecting Heaven Coins, unlike Stocking), who ends up literally powerless after her hymen had been restored, with the second example being Stocking, whose affinity for sweets was somewhat able to thwart Corset's plan from coming into fruition when she was in a brainwashed state as an angel-ghost mutant. (There's entire paragraph is baseless speculation. Nothing ever said Revival Virgin Syndrome was exclusive to Panty and Stocking eating buildings is simply her desires out of control.)

In one of the chapters of the Manga Strip, it is revealed that angels can also use their powers to transform the garments of demons into weapons, but instead, said weapons take on the usual color scheme of demonic weapons. It should be noted, however, that the canon nature of this manga is made unclear.

• In Japanese, the sisters' transformation chant makes reference to 聖なる処女, or Holy Virgin, and the brothers' 聖なる若子, or Holy Newborn/Child. Both likely references to Christianity, Mary and Jesus respectively.
  • Meaning their lingerie weapons are either factually made from the same cloth worn by those two or representative of said clothing the same way the wine and bread represent the blood and body of Christ is during communion.
• When asked about why the Poly Brothers weren't named after garments, Hiromi Wakabayashi said that he couldn't answer this but to "keep watching as it may be answered".
  • As Linière is named after a lingerie brand while Silk and Ramie are named after materials, none being garments themselves, Pantiel and Stockiel are the odd ones out.
    • As Panty, Stocking, and even Brief are all nicknames, it is hard to draw any real conclusions.
  • Additionally, the brothers are the only ones who don't keep their wings nor halos during their transformation sequence. While their father, Ramie, also shares this trait, he keeps his halo when transformed. But, he was never given an art style change transformation sequence to begin with.
    • Ramie's gun is also the first user-specific heavenly weapon wherein it's not shown onscreen which garment he summons it from.
      • Given that he is a god, not an angel, we do not know if it works the same way.
• As revealed in the Neverending Streaming covering the episode "The Brothers from Heaven", they did not have the opportunity to explain in the first season how Panty and Stocking ended up on Earth for their trial, and added on, saying how their parents, Linière and Silk, intended for them both to finish collecting Heavens quickly but underestimated how their daughters slacked off for the most part instead.
  • Additionally, it is also revealed that the Poly Brothers' transformation sequence is heavily inspired by the characters in the live action movie, Magic Mike.
  • It is later revealed^[4] that the original reason Panty and Stocking were sent to Earth to hunt ghosts as punishment was because Panty was caught having sex with her then-boyfriend on their parents' bed while Stocking turned a blind eye to it.
• In YouTuber Chris Mayek's interview with Polyurethane's English voice actor, Corey Wilder, on the former's video "Voice Actor Corey Wilder Interview (2025)", Corey reveals that one of the adlibs he added for the English dub was adding the word "bitch" at the end of the "Repent or perish!" line of the brothers' transformation speech.
• In a passing comment made by Stocking in "The Turmoil of the Beehive", it is implied Panty never went to school back when she and Stocking were still in Heaven.
• Despite the supernatural not exactly being kept a secret to human society, the Anarchy and Daemon Sisters are still required to enroll in a human high school to "blend in".
• The following were revealed in the Never Say Neverending Storytelling offline event that occurred on November 02, 2025:
  • The brothers were also initially planned to be given weapon-power ups as well.
    • The cop outfits they have during their transformations initially had tight boot-cut pants, including an open-crotch area; Additionally, their collars were initially neckties before being turned into chain accessories, and the rough draft for their halos were similarly designed to the ones from Blue Archive.
      • The golden brooch accessories attached to their cop hats is an emblem representing Ramie's faction.
      • Part of the inspiration of their design was from K-pop idols.
        • Both their weapons were designed to be much larger, and that Polyurethane was supposed to have blades on his hands, as well.
        • Polyurethane was also initially supposed to have rockets coming out of his knees as his weapon of choice, while Polyester's was originally a machine gun or a gatling gun, and that Ramie's pistol is revealed to be a Thompson Contender.
    • The brothers were designed with the facial structures of Panty and Stocking in mind, such as their upturned and downturned eyes respectively.
      • They also noted how only those with a direct relation to the royal throne have the lightning bolt-shaped hair highlight/theme (Linière, Ramie, Panty, and Junior).
        • However, in a Q&A staff states that Stocking may have that motif elsewhere on her body.
  • Linière has a lion motif representing tradition while Ramie has a bird motif representing innovation. For Ramie specifically, his was more owl-like.
